Root canal treatment, root canal filling

If for any reason (such as dental caries or fracture) the tooth gets damaged to its pulp, a root canal treatment is needed. Every tooth – even a baby tooth – has one or more roots which fasten the tooth in the bone. In the course of the treatment the canal has to be filled with filling material. In 15 to 20% of the cases some complication occurs which makes additional treatments necessary and sometimes the tooth finally has to be removed. In order to prepare a proper root canal filling a lot of time is needed and a good deal of patience is required from the treated patient. The filled root canal has to be regularly X-rayed.
